COMMENT:
I hear more good ideas come out of Obama's mouth in a single speech than I heard come out of both Bush administrations. And he doesn't call our allies derogatory names. His leadership has helped to prevent a repeat of The Great Depression. Granted, whoever gets to the moon first will control the earth, but I'm okay with the United States not controlling the earth.

COMMENT:
Obama appears to have the opinion that lot of disputes should be resolved over a beer, rather than lawsuits and arrests and international fanfare. At least, that is my interpretation of the President's actions. He might not succeed in resolving the argument, though I'm sure it will help. I rather like my local police station to have a pub in which they would bring rivals to talk things through. But if Obama's plan doesn't work, should they consider the Jerry Springer option instead?

COMMENT:
Perhaps the inquiry chaired by Sir John Chilcot will "reveal" information that the government, did not tell the public before but which those in power want to divulge now. It might not serve as a mere token gesture to appease some of those still complaining. Greg Palast, Michael Moore and many others have brought information to light which leads to questions that some in government definitely did not want answered. Do you think that I am naive for having hope for this?

Heroes have values based upon a perspective far beyond their own immediate needs and behave in ways that serve the betterment of everyone. Some choose to become "professional heroes," and firemen are one of the best examples. Activists can be heroes if they base their actions on inspiration rather than ignorance. Just being an honorable, loving, decent person can be quite heroic too, though this sort of heroism can go unnoticed by many people.

Obesity seems pretty much the status quo to me, at least when compared to the fitness many seemed to value a few decades ago. Aspiring to look like a supermodel can be more dangerous than healthy. What does Professor McMahon want as role models, normal people who exercise a reasonable amount of time each week and who eat a healthy diet? I suppose it's possible...

More Middle East dialogues? How has that been working for us so far? President Carter did the best job so far, why don't we send him back? If we're doing what we've always done, we might as well be talking to the Chinese about leaving Tibet while were at it.

Let the pictures be shown at the International Criminal Court as members of the Bush Administration who allowed these atrocities stand on trial! Show the world not only our commitment to owning our mistakes and to correcting these, but also to our commitment to human rights and to the cause of civilization throughout the world. Let us show the world that we will even hold accountable our own political leaders if they violate international law and human rights. Let the ICC see the pictures.
