Aung San Suu Kyi has become the symbol of those suffering the violation of human rights in Burma. The world has to care about her on behalf of the rest of the civilian population who are aspiring for a democratic rule.
Governments and NGOs should be the voice of the voiceless who can’t be defended without support from outside forces. Leaving Aung San Suu Kyi in prison without active condemnation means acquiescence to leaving a whole people under the grip of a military dictatorship.

The prisoners should be transferred to their countries of birth and be given a fair trial under the auspices of international observers. Keeping them in Guantanamo will continue to raise controversies.
Guantanamo, when evicted from its detainees, should be kept as a memorial for the generations to come for them to assess the imprisonment conditions there. It should remain a symbol of cross-border terrorism, cross-border imprisonment and cross-border (mis)carriage of justice.

The differences between Jews and Muslims, among other things, over the status of Jerusalem and the creation of a Palestinian state are so deep. They can't be simply resolved by a call for peace.
What is hoped is that interfaith dialogue between Muslims and the Catholics can establish mutual understanding in face of existing Christian and Muslim extremism. His visit can be an opportunity for establishing mutual respect between Islam and Christianity instead of confrontation.
