Be it India or any other Country, the top agenda now is to tackle terrorism. It is just that India needs to toughen its security more, as it is lying next to the terrotist's haven. Though I am not a supporter of UPA, BJP does have a strong and clean leader to show and represent India to the rest of the world. So the win for the UPA govt was not surprising I wish soon BJP finds some eminent leader n win the next general elections. Without doubt BJP period were the golden days for indian economy.

The current election result of India will somehow affect the growing politics of its neighbourhood. Its a bitter fact that this country has remained enigma during the time when the situation gets little out of hand.

Every few years the Congress party is given another chance but always corruption causes it to fail India.
Maybe they will try to make changes for all of India, Hindu's, Christians, Muslims and Bhuddists alike, and not just policies for the landlords and the rich?

I am old enough to remember India a decade or so after independence, when India had much less wealth but real moral authority in the world. What self congratulatory and patronising nonsense we see here. Challenges ahead? How about ending bride burning, the abortion of 500,000 baby girls each year simply because of their gender and mainly by the middle classes, the ending of corruption which is endemic, ending of police brutality which is endemic, some semblance of concern for the poor etc. etc.

I find it strange that people from a non-democratic neighbor country are critical about a valid, robust democratic process in India. A little insight, froward thinking and critical self-evaluation may help them understand why majority is satisfied with the outcome. While their government is mired down with fundamentalists, over 300 million people became part of voting process. If these people cannot appreciate this gap in the realities, they are not living in real world.

Out of the options available, Congress by far has the better economic plan for India. Unfortunately all the parties suck on national security. How could India ever improve tremendously if it has an act of terrorism every quarter ?

India is considered to be the most corrupt country in the world. The income-tax,Police,Traffic Police, Customs and central excise department openly asks for bribe in India. Housing lottery for poor people is Fabricated and poor people's money is looted. In this system where every govenment department and all Pofficial parties from top to bottom knows about prevaling corruption and do nothing about it. I think British rulers was better then today's Indian Political Netas rule.

Only thing India could be proud about is Electoral lack of Violence, then again Rampages occur for no other reason than to sate lower-end Hindu anger at their Sorry lot in life.So long as it's at other Religions everythings honky-dory with Govt.
Past few yrs India spent Over 60% of Global Budget on Weapons while most Indians sit mired in abject Poverty.I venture that most have No Idea What They Voted For,let alone celebrate. Mandatory Substitute PM Manmohan Singh is Pakistani by Birth.

It is quite amazing on the face of it that a mostly illiterate population can make such a mature political decision, as to reject the far right and the leftist agenda. The more likely truth is that the election result reflects the complete bankruptcy of the rightist and the leftist ideologies and people's tiredness with them. Not that those religiously -fanatic sentiments are dead, but need another idiotic leader or nasty event to come to fore again. Meanwhile the govt must work to improve lives

At this point of time, we need stability and person with strong economics background to manage Indian economy. Manmohan Singh along with Montek Singh and Chidambram, sailed India through the recession. People including so called illiterate from my village could understand and hear on radio about US and Western powers losing their shine but Indian economy is growing. On the other hand there was no strong leader to match Manmohan Singh and hence people were not confused. India under MMS will shine

Congratulations Indians: Being a Pakistani American, I admire Indian nation to reject Hindu religious fanatics who committed atrocities against minorities specially Muslims and Christians. You have proved that India can become a true secular democratic state. Peace and propsperity will kiss your feet if you continue the path of equality and justice for all. Your choice will have an impact on neighboring countries specially Pakistan. Pakistanis will also be able to bring an end to Talibanization.

I could not be happier with the results. Congress is probably the only big party which boasts the likes of P.Chidambaram,M.M. Singh and Ahluwalia, some of the most learned men in the whole political scene of India. I am relieved that the voters took a mature decision and did not fall for the divisive agenda based on caste and religion of BJP and allies and those of the fourth front. This win gives hope to me and other young voters like me who had given up on even bothering to vote.
