Did the right woman win?
After a gruelling 12 week interview, Sir Alan Sugar has finally found his apprentice. Do you agree with his decision?
In an all-female final, the two 27-year-old rivals, Kate Walsh and Yasmina Siadatan battled it out with the help of their former competitors.
It was Yasmina who won the final challenge. Sir Alan will now employ her in a job with a £100,000-a-year salary.
The final comes as a new report shows that female students are ahead of men in almost every measure of UK university achievement.
Do you agree with the decision? What did you think of this year's series? Would you want to work for Alan Sugar? How close do you think women are to shattering the glass ceiling?

Time will tell if the "right" woman won. The programme itself is excellent entertainment AND learning: One gets an understanding of how remote some apprentices are from reality and it makes one realise why often some weird and useless products or services appear but it is also clear that those circles often produce for their own needs, rather than ordinary folks.
Sir Alan Sugar, though, manages to look at the wider picture and'd wish him my boss as he mixes shrudeness, common sense and wit.

only sad people go on this style of programme and even sadder people watch it and what I find even sadder is that outwardly sane people will endlessly discuss this fairy tale programme no wonder the world is in such a state when half of it seems to live in fairy tale space [oldsitkaspruce] How do you know it's sad? Have you watched it? How sad!

I'm amazed by how seriously people take this program. It's good entertainment, but that's all; the winner doesn't go on to manage Sugar's business empire, but usually gets a fairly low-level job and lasts only a year or so. I appreciate that HYS is normally a displacement activity from the daily grind, but get a bit of perspective!

This is for those who write negative comments that they do not watch apprentice, they do not care, the program is rubbish, etc etc….. then they should not be allowed to write any comment about this and they have to go and do /watch whatever they like to do.
Well done Yasmina.

I think the right woman did win. I am pleased with the result.
However as to what do I think of this years series I have to say I am very disappointed. Unusually I watched series one to seven of the USA Trump version before I saw Sir Allen's version and too be honest I find some of the tasks they have to do almost laughable; washing a few cars, making a box of chocolate. I can't imagine Trump giving such trivia tasks. The UK version needs some serious Donald Trumpifying to keep me watching.

Having seen the program now...I see why you asked the question! Yasmina was useless and Kate was excellent. Completely ridiculous decision by Alan Sugar, but it's not the first time. It's quite shocking how bad his judgement is. Now I'm not sure if the Sugar/Labour joint venture is genuine......this would have made a good joke after the program finished (highlighting their similar ineptitude).

this glass ceiling only exists is the minds of those that don't make the grade and those of a certain political bent. when women succeed they say it is only through the womans determination to fight for this or that. When they dont, certain quarters always blame sexism and the "glass ceiling"

It doesn't matter who wins, as she wont be working there within 6 months. She will soon realise it's more profitable to publish a pointless book on business skills prior to becoming a celebrity chef or cable tv host.

Reality TV seems to have replaced game shows, although if I had to watch either, I would expect to find game shows more entertaining.

Yasmina owns her own restaurant business and finshed her run on the apprentice with a box of chocolates that everyone hated the flavour of...and yet she won when the clear winner (kate) lost? I think it's time we all turned to the sweetneing Sugar alternative.. like say Splenda for example.

When asked later what job the winner would be doing for Sir Alan, he replied that Yasmina would be helping to put TV screens up in hospital wards. HOW DULL! She went through all those tests, to do that Job!!!
I think Kate will be pleased she didn't win.
