What do you think of the BBC's expenses?
The BBC has published the expenses of some of its top executives, alongside the expenses and salaries of its 50 top-earning managers. Should the BBC reveal its expenses details?
The detail includes two family holidays which had to be cut short by BBC director general Mark Thompson, costing a total of more than £3,514.
The BBC already publishes the pay details of its executive board and its governing body, the BBC Trust. The salaries and expenses of the BBC's top 100 executives and decision-makers will also be published, quarterly, from September.
As an example, on 23/06/05 the BBC's Director of Vision, Jana Bennett, claimed more than £85 for a pair of engraved Tiffany cufflinks as a gift for an undisclosed person. Have you spotted something similar? Please let us know by leaving a comment
Do you welcome this move? Will it promote trust among licence fee payers? Is it enough to publish the top 100 executives' expenses or should more information be made public?

All these publications of MPs expenses, and now BBC employees salaries and expense accounts, are making me feel seriously depressed. How I wish I had never got into the organic vegetarian dog-food business. By comparison it's very poorly rewarded.

Trivial compared to the MP's.
They have not flipped homes or claimed to clean moats.
As for having to fly home from his family holiday because of that idiot Ross, the fuss would have been greater if he had stayed on holiday.
Get a grip, don't let these disgusting MP's off the hook, they are far worse.

@Emma King the salary and other moneys paid to public servants should be open for anyone to see. We are paid by the public purse, we should be accountable to the public.

The management structure at the BBC has developed into a self perpetuating oligarchy. The hierachs run the operation to fit their own. their own political agenda. Needless to say they decide their own salaries and expenses.
I guess that a lot of senior executives arround the country at local authorities and QUANGOs etc will be looking to their excuses right now. Not many of them are worth their inflated salaries.

£100 for "flowers for Jonathan Ross"?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Ross banned from broadcasting live after making inappropriate comments as to assuming the sexuality of young boys?
And intimating that being Gay would be something to be ashamed of?
Can we hear his comments about a man who has £100 worth of flowers delivered?

I certainly agree that they need to stop sending star news presenters to big stories. Huw Edwards, James Naughtie and others were all flown out to cover Barack Obama when there were already perfectly competent journalists there. In addition and much as I am a fan of Brucie I do think that paying for an 80th party for him could have come out of a whipround from staff including execs as would happen in other organisations. This is our money and some find it hard to pay for. The BBC need to behave.

"wait until more comes out about the BBC ie\ royalties payments!"
Your point ? If you mean the BBC earning royalties why shouldn't it if it has produced a programme sold elsewhere ? And by the same token why should the BBC not make royalty payments to writers, actors or actresses if that is how the production of the programme was made.
Royalties are a way of spreading the cost of production in the same way say staff elsewhere (not just bank staff) get bonuses when a business does well.
