Your memories of the King of Pop

Michael Jackson fans who paid in advance for his UK concerts have been offered their money back or a souvenir ticket as an alternative. What are your memories of the King of Pop?

An estimated 800,000 people paid £50-£75 to watch the star perform 50 concerts at London's 02 arena, but the singer died on Thursday aged 50 following a suspected cardiac arrest.

After bursting onto the world stage with his brothers in the Jackson 5, Michael became one of the biggest-selling recording artists of all time.

But the singer was dogged by controversy and money trouble in recent years, becoming a virtual recluse.

What does Michael Jackson's music mean to you? What is his legacy? Did you buy tickets to see him perform in London? Will you be asking for a refund or are you happy to pay for souvenir tickets?

Michael Jackson was spending 2 million dollars a month. For heaven's sake, what has gone wrong with our modern day celebrities? Society enable stars to build up their wealth and stars should show respect for fans, manage wealth responsibly and be able to respond back to society with real positive contributions. 2 million dollars a month, especially at these difficult times will make some fans wonder why they have to spend their money to support these grandiose if not foolish life styles.

Michael Jackson was the king of music. He exposed African suffering through his music. If the UN ever writes any thing about Africa, its because of MJ. He paved way for Blacks to appear on T.V in the US. his change of skin colour was a nesscesity since blacks were sidelined at that time and they had no voice. He is the first Obama in the world of music. The world will miss him big Time. May his soul rest in peace Amen.

I had the privilege of sitting very close to MJ when he visited the theatre in London back in March. The experience totally changed my perception of him - what I saw was a relaxed normal guy enjoying himself like everyone else; it was the entourage around him who were creating the stresses, although I appreciate they were just doing their job. MJ looked fit, well and happy. I am truly shocked and saddened by his death and the world has lost a very talented and misunderstood man.

Thank you MJ for all you have done. To me, you defined music and entertainment. You will be missed, and always be remembered.

Michael, a true legend - it's really sad he is gone. I attended one of his concerts 'it was lightening!' He's music was/is amazing, generations have listened to it & loved it.
Every one of us chooses how we live and Michael lived the way he wanted to whether it was strange or weird.
Thank you for producing great music, you will be even a bigger legend now than you were when your were alive.
World is crying for you!

Ah! I feel sorry that most people are not yet aware that no matter how famous, rich, faithful they might be death is waiting for them.Jackson is gone is gone.Let us forget him and start promoting the living musicians other than the dead ones.A lady in Mzuzu spent three days without food what a shame

As far as im concerned i know for a fact that his soul is resting in peace now. Also i find it extremely disrespectful for so called 'fans' who bought tickets to see him now wanting a refund. There must be laws that should be made in respect to issues like this.On the other hand the promoters are not doing themselves any good cos its a scam. They should have just kept their mouth shut and offered whoever wanted refunds. They are greedy cos they knew no way was he going to be able to perform 50 shows

It's only a good way to honour him if you want to honour the bit where he became a a ridiculous joke, because that's what this offer is. You can get a rare ticket for a 1995 HBO Special for £25 on a collectibles site. The tickets would've belonged to those who bought them after the gig anyway, like any gig, so they should get a ticket and a refund. That's the way a decent company would honour him.
