The idea that we should load our children and grandchildren with enormous debts to enable
us to avoid the effects of our profligacy is simply
selfish and repellant.

This Labour government regards the public as children and is the worst possible parent.
The "children" have been over indulged without expecting to pay the price, in return for the "love" (votes) from the children to keep the "parents" in the manner to which they have become accustomed. EU immigrants work in jobs the "children" refuse to do. Pregnant teenagers "expect" the" social" to pay, the
wealthy hide their money in hedge funds, MPs abuse expenses.
BE HONEST, BE FAIR, WE ALL HAVE TO PAY!

I agree with Ian Duncan Smith dysfunctional familes cost the country huge amounts of money paid out in benefits ,whilst hard working ordinary people have to pay more and more in taxes to allow them their life styles.
Reward hard work and penalise the workshy.

Of course this country has to make spending cuts, anyone with an ounce of common sense knows that, why cant the government accept that and tell the british people the truth. that we'll all have to do our bit and accept things are goin to be tight for a few years.. providing of course the government stops wasting money on immigrants and themselves.
I'd be happy to pay more into the system providing it was spent correctly and got us out of debt

Harriet Harman was unable on any occassion to complete her point due to interruption yet the Chairman let Mr Duncan Smith and the Liberal Spokesman on Education carry on at length despite neither addressing the question raised. Male chauvanism, now more correctly classed as discrimination obviously pertains.
Perhaps this unwarranted unfairness is due to the over zealous nature of the Chairman, a BBC personality seeking to justify his salary by his anti governmental stance?

Recent FOI request has revealed that HMRC spends more harassing SMEs under the vindictive IR35 legislation than they actually recover.
Does this not suggest that this governement is being less than honest about their agenda by by continuing to impose this legislation?
It begs the quetions what is the definition of fair, proportionate and transparent?

Why do you (the BBC) waste our time with uninformed, "celebrities" as panelists, Jarvis COCKER, a waste ofspace, who in their right mind is interested in the pontificating, witless ramblings of the ill informed.
Spending cuts !, start here with this "programme" !!!!!

of course we have to cut public spending. millions of people have no desire to work and think that they have the right to live on state hand outs. it is time that the voting public realised that all the major parties are stealing the working persons money and giving it to the work shy...compare the number of sick days claimed by public sector workers to sick days of staff in private sector..and for an even bigger difference, compare public sector workers to self employed people...harman you liar

They don't need to cut services to save money, just cut the quangos and public sector waste. I worked for HMRC for a while, what I saw would shock most professional people.
With golden public sector pensions and the hidden PFI debt our troubles are far deeper than Brown will admit.

I find it laughable to listen to Ian Duncan Smith lecture the country on how it should be run and what should be cut when it was his party that set in motion a sequence of events that allowed the bankers to destroy the world economy.
One has to say the old adage "How do you know if a Politician or Journalist is lying - They open their mouth" applies to the panel this evening, and is it any wonder that the population wont engage in politics

I don't believe Gordon Brown for one minute. He is trying to buy votes from our ever increasing public sector. As a country we do not manufacture very much thanks to the Tories and Labour and this is where the wealth is created. The public sector need to be cut and get rid of these non jobs (parasdies) that are throughout the country. Repatriate the immigrants and make the layabouts work!

All the political parties are liars, I don.t believe a word from any of them. We have a small business and we have no help at all. Deferring vat payments what a laugh. It was for only one time and we still have to pay it. What about lowering our business rates for a year or even having a free year. You help all your big business friends who have ruined this country but the back bone of this country get nothing. Wake up before its too late if it isn't already.
