Is UK's Afghan strategy right?

A third British soldier has been killed in south Afghanistan, hours after the deaths of two soldiers in Helmand. Is a new strategy needed in Afghanistan?

On Thursday, the leader of the Liberal Democrat party in the UK said the government refuses to send more troops to Afghanistan for political reasons.

Nick Clegg insisted he supports the mission's aims, but highlighted the military were not getting the "political backing" it deserved.

Do you live in Afghanistan, how has life changed for you? Is a new political commitment and strategy needed in Afghanistan? How important is the Afghan campaign in determining national and global security?

Even if we were to withdraw from Iraq and Afganistan, we would be plunged straight away in to another war with Iran, this time engineered by the US using the terrorist state of Israel as the advance guard. There was no trouble in the ME before this state was created.

Not one more British Life!

Gordon Brown, Tony Blair and George Bush should be facing The Hague for Crimes against Humanity.

The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are unjustifiable and will go down in history as War Crimes. Politicians send other peoples children to their deaths fighting wars that can never be won.

No signs of HRH Prince Harry or William? Just the working classes on the front line. Fed with lots of hot air from our P.M and his government that sent them all there.

young men are needlesly dying for a cause that will end in defeat, how many times must western imperialists invade A'stan and try to convert it to a US style country and fail before they realise that in the end the western forces will retreat with their tail between their legs and will have achieved next to nothing, the Taliban can never be defeated and A'stan will revert to what it was before the invasion by the West. the only thing achieved will be more death and destruction.

Afghanistan has never been a fully functioning nation state. Why does the west think it can impose one? And why do we think we have the right?

Our armed forces are heroes, led by political donkeys.
Either give them the numbers and equipment to do the job, or pull out and leave them to it.
They said they would kill one of our soldiers every day, and they are doing it, and I hope Mr. Brown et al understand quite clearly, that each member of the armed forces lost, is worth a thousand of him, and his.
We're getting sick of our leaders ignoring the indigenous people of this country.

If the media had been allowed to second guess every action of every politician 24 hours a day by news, internet, tv ... in WW II, we would have kicked out Churchill after Dunkirk and all be speaking German !!

No, no and no again. It is fundamentally flawed. You cannot win a war in Afghanistan, history shows us that. I feel for our brave soldiers being forced to fight ill equipped and fighting an ideaology. We will not win, it is pointless fighting this war and losing any more brave souls. Get out, let the Afghanis fight for themselves. This is not about protecting the UK.

Even if the Taliban are defeated which I very much doubt, then all that will happen is that the whole thing will simmer on just like the Irish occupation did until the aggressors realise the futility of trying to impose their customs and values on countries who don't want them.

It has been almost a decade since NATO occupied Afghanistan beginning early part of 2002. It is getting closer to the period Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) had occupied Afghanistan from 1979-1989. The fact that the occupation has lasted so long even after the NATO forces used the most sophisticated technology and firepower indicates that after the initial removal of Taliban from Kabul and installation of Karzai, military victory is elusive and the Afghan masses are suffering. No gain
