Patrick Swayze: Your memories
Entertainer Patrick Swayze has died, aged 57, of pancreatic cancer. How will you remember him?
He was best known for the films "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost".
He went public about his illness last year, but continued working while undergoing treatment, starring in US TV show "The Beast".
At a live televised event "Stand Up to Cancer," the three-time Golden Globe nominee said: "I dream that the word 'cure' will no longer be followed by the words 'is impossible'."
What are your memories of Patrick Swayze? Did you ever meet him? Did you work with him? Send us your comments.

I have very vivid memories of when I was around 8 or 9 years old being over at my Grandmas house and begging her to let watch "Dirty Dancing." My dad said I would sit in front of the television and watch that film over and over again. I couldn't get enough and still to this day I love it, definitely an unforgettable classic!

Patrick Swayze's roles captured an era in time that has now been lost forever - a time of integrity, passion and commitment to the work. I admired him in films such as Outsiders, Dirty Dancing and Roadhouse however I especially admired him for his true starring role; as a devoted husband and family man. Gone too soon but certainly not forgotten. My prayers are with his wife Lisa and family.

I worry that my wife now wants to watch Dirty Dancing again. God, I hate that movie. I don't know much about Patrick Swayze but he was probably a nice guy and so it is sad that he passed away at the age of only 57.

Have Your Say contributors rarely hold back their opinion for fear of offending even when it comes to tributes of a newly departed. Yet reading through the posts left here for Patrick it is testament to the quality of the mans character that I am unable to find a single critical let alone negative comment about the man and in today's celebrity dirt obsessed world that is not just unusual, it's a miracle. For me his greatest achievement was to make it look like Keanu could act. Thanks Paddy RIP

He wasn't an actor, he was a film star, there's a yawning chasm between the two things. Did he really do anything worth remembering?

I always thought he was really underrated in "To Wong Foo" where he played a drag performer. He was really amazing— he really showed a self-deprecating side of himself in that. RIP, Patrick...

Patrick Swayze was a wonderful actor to watch and a low profile personality; He gave us some amazing moments during his short life and I am sure that he had been an exceptional husband and friend. We will always remember him for the sparkle and his unique style! Marvellous dancer and singer, as well! I feel really sorry for his loss, and I just wanted to say to his wife and friends that he will always be well remembered and praised by millions of fans worldwide!! May he rest in peace!

He live for parties, dance, women and material wealth. I would say lived in vain and died in vain like so many others.
Once dead curtains are lifted and person can see the truth and the beings of hereafter. But people choose to go their way even if it leads them to a bottomless pit. However this is the beauty of a free-will.
