Are you happy with your internet connection?
Is the world wide web your lifesaver? Or is surfing so slow that it drives you insane?
BBC News readers in Africa have been sharing their stories of internet agony and ecstasy, in our "Connected Africa" series.
Dramane in Burkina Faso says: "Getting the internet was a milestone in my life".
But Dondion in DR Congo says: "In my village, WWW stands for "World Wide Wait".
And Paul in South Africa says: "If my internet gets any slower it will go backwards, and we will start uploading when we want to be downloading".

Todays broadband is yesterdays dial up... Dave Perry, Pembroke
If you have to hook up to a supercomputer loaders (such as VACs) 100 mbs is definitely not enough.
Fortunately DARPA is working hard to get Internet-2 up to 1 Gb/sec. Which, I suppose, would be tolerable for a while.

Yes!! Here in remote India, the Internet is all that I have to show that I exist!!! For underdeveloped and developing countries(India), the connection is good but, erratic (my server was down for 3 days). But then, something is better than nothing.

I love it! And my Internet connection really boosts my productivity. I can log onto a website such as the BBC, click on a link and then go walk the dog, cook breakfast and maybe even clean the house while I wait for the page to load.

Slow as molasses!
I'm currently on dial-up but I'll soon be switching to broadband and a different ISP. I'm looking forward to it. Anything will be an improvement over what I have right now.

The average speed is 3-6Mbps so you can even stream tv shows without delay. It is awesome and will soon be all over the US.

We've had internet by cell phone in Australia for years. You'll find that, as it gets more widespread, the speeds drop dramatically and the reliability of the connection drops off. I've stopped using it and gone back to ADSL+. I get double the speed, a very reliable connection, and its cheaper with more reasonable download limits.

Although I am not very happy with my internet connetion for its getting too slow day by day yet I am not very much displeased for the reason that I know, 'its better to have something even if its little than having nothing at all'.

Verizon is the latest villian to selectively delay accessibility to the internet, saving their systems capability for speifics they are concerned. Yet! let thier subscribers think it is their apparatus deficiency, causing nuch anxiety; viruses are for the most part come from the cable monopoly themselves. This is poor planning on their part.
thank you

I´m an Englishman living in Spain. I gave up faster internet via telephone lines in favour of the town´s wi-fi because of cost. The combined internet and telephone package via Telefonica costs 70 euros per month! My wi-fi is rated at 1mb but is rarely faster than 500kb. What I find ridiculous about the quality and cost of internet in Spain is that the largest provider, Telefonica, also owns O2 in the UK. A mate in England uses O2 internet and gets 6mb download speed for seven quid a month!

My ISP tells me my connection is six megabits over the cable, it usually is 5.5 to 6 megabits just like it should be. but the upload is at 700 kilobits. and when you even transfer a file to somewhere fast like the Uni I attend its more like 10 kilobits if your lucky, usually seven or so. so my ability to give is .001% my ability to take.

The internet is a godsend. The information is so readily available virtually on your finger-tips just with key strokes with key-words! Cannot be simpler...Here in Brussels internet connections are excellent. In the journalistic and teaching professions, the internet provides vital background, current information on the subjects you need to analyse or develop. The internet has become an on-line encyclopedia and its interactive features gives vital opportunities for further discussion. A real BOON.

I started out on whatever came before a 300 baud modem. That's not 300k, it BITS/dec of state change before it's even translated into a ascii character! Some can TYPE faster. Then again only files you could talk to were on local BBS's or the local library's system that had Internet access. It was miraculous.
However slow, just think back to those magic days when every byte counted. Programs were tiny. A few bytes of assembly code could do anything.
The bloaternet will have to do.

We spend too much time on the Internet and on cell phones: in our vehicles, while walking, reading, eating, drinking, visiting, shopping, doing business and research, sexual foreplay and so on. We are gradually losing our skill to do proper and lengthy thought-provoking research in favour of short page-long articles that provide often inaccurate information. The internet and cells are taking bytes out of our brains and turning us into stoopid semi-literate speed demons. Much too fast.

No. I pay BT for an 8MB Unlimited Download connection. However, my line will only support speeds of up to 2MB. I pay mostly because BT only offer 1GB download per month if you're on 2MB, so instead of £10, I pay £40, mostly so I can use the internet properly. I would prefer if BT offered schemes for different speeds and different download capacities seperately, but I'm fine with paying for content. However - I rarely get even 2MB, so no, I'm not satisfied. Fibre to the home should be here.
