Can Iran nuclear power deal be reached?

Iran has begun five days of air defence exercises, aimed at testing its ability to protect its nuclear facilities from possible attack. What is your reaction?

The exercises come as the UN Security Council's permanent members - Britain, China, France, Russia and the US - plus Germany, urge Tehran to reconsider its rejection of a proposal that would see some of its nuclear material being enriched outside Iran.

The proposal would see Iran send about 70% of its low-enriched uranium to Russia and France where it would be processed into fuel rods for a research reactor in Tehran,
but Iran has rejected a key part of the deal.

Can an agreement be reached on the Iranian nuclear issue? What is your reaction to the outcome of the talks? Should Iran stop uranium enrichment?

i believe that any treaty or plan thtat would be prsent to tehran leaders to give up the iranian nuclear possession by the west and the us will not be accepted not even by the iran leaders but also the citizens.becouse iran knows how the us and the west snooped, spied and fought the falsesuspect iraqi nuclear possession which everybody in this world now knows false.and niether united nations nor any organisation or nation could solve iran nuclearcrisis without a jutice in the world.

Only one country has dropped a nuclear weapon on another. Are they the right people to police the nuclear world?

The funny part of all these is that the Iranians never had any nuclear technology till Bush decided to invade Iraq for its oil and the Russians saw their chance of having access to the Iranians oil by supplying them with nuclear reactors (for electricity according to Iranians) and this is the reality of things, all this talk about attacking Israel is just talk after all the only country that help the Iranians on their war with Iraq it was Israel all these war talk is for their home viewers

Does anyone call France, US, UK nuclear bomb as Christian nuclear bomb or Israel nuclear bomb as Jewish nuclear bomb?
Shoaib Bagdadi, Frankfurt, Germany

Excuse me but Israel ,the UK or the US aren't unstable tribal nations, that could lose control of their arsenel at any moment
stu nobody, United Kingdom

As far as I can tell, Iran isn't an unstable tribal nation either. There has been civil unrest in all the above countries, they all have been/are at war, so why have a go at Iran?

'Iran has begun five days of air defence exercises, aimed at testing its ability to protect its nuclear facilities from possible attack. What is your reaction?'

Iran's defences are irrelevant – they are no match for Western forces. Iran's nuclear facilities must be destroyed, or an Iranian nuclear bomb will be used against the West or Israel.

Yes, so have Russia, China, India, Pakistan, France and the USA. What has that got to do with trying to limit the spread of these WMD?

Simon Morgan, Sydney

What is wrong is that the bigots are trying to portray their desire of monopoly on nuclear weapons as a desire for abolishing nuclear weapons.

//Now, they need nukes to protect themselves from us. Read the story. We will not live happily ever after.//
[Vic-Venture], London, United Kingdom

-Where your argument falls down is in the 'protect themselves '. Nobody is actually threatening Iran or trying to overthrow the regime there ( apart from the Iranian people, that is, and possibly Yemen ). Their nuclear weapons are for offence, not defence.

Israel's constant nuclear threat compels Iran probably and that's why its busy developing its nuclear plants.
A R Shams, Pakistan

Sooner the better, Iran becomes a nuclear power, so it has deterrent for Israel’s constant threat.

Can Iran nuclear power deal be reached?
Iran should learn from Israel. Keep talking & staling, let’s have power deal but never make a deal like the elusive Peace process in the Middle East. Always blame others.

In the mean time make some nukes so others may not attack Iran. Don’t go down the way Iraq is gone, eight years no electric, no power & no sewer. What a democracy!

Once Iran has nukes, it will have deterrent just like between USA and Russia or others.

Talks will not do any good.

The cold war is over, USA / West developed nuclear weapon to protect them self and friends from the spread/expansion of communism and even thought communism has failed , Russia/China/North Korea haven't reformed to democracy and are acting like power hungry dictators.people in those countries cant speak their mind. The possession of nuclear of those countries is still dangerous to world .

The last thing we need in this dangerous world nuclear in the hands of theocratic Iran.

Like it or not, because of the atmosphere that has played out all around this great ancient country, in the last decade. I say time will be on Iran's side. Sorry to say that television has made the country ,cartoon like. Iran is not a circus and it will be slaves to the western media. Iran in the encyclopedia; is over 5000 years old and many Europeans ancestors called home. Iran will be strong 5000 years from now . I will not say that about television,

Are they maneuvers, any chance in a accident like the US Armed Forces and shoot down a airliner or bomb some unsuspecting rival..? The military and those that use them should be abandoned. The world would be a safer place to live, if the bullies, murderers, liars and thieves had no weapons or way to attack and abuse their people.

'... Iran has the 2nd largest Jewish population in the world ...'

Nana Brown

Just a correction, Nana. USA has the second largest jewish population in the world (~4'500,000). Iran has the 25th largest jewish population in the world with ~25,000 jews. Israel holds as the first largest jewish population in the world with around ~6'500,000 jews. Nonetheless the jewish population is declining at about 50,000 jews per year, according to the 2002 survey by the Jewish Agency.

Why do nuclear weapons get such bad press?

They were incredibly effective in bringing Japan to it's knees at the end of WWII. Keep in mind that the Japanese of the day were so fanatical that they flew suicide missions to kill their enemies. The only difference with today's mullah champs is that they are pedestrians.

Let them have nuclear weapons. The sooner they do, the quicker we can get on with WWIII.
